1. What Mimic Pilot collects

Nothing leaves your PC. Mimic Pilot has no account, no telemetry, no analytics and no ads, and the app contains no networking code. The Microsoft Store handles downloading and updating the app; that data is covered by Microsoft’s privacy statement, not this one.

2. What is saved on your PC

Mimic Pilot saves files in %LOCALAPPDATA%\MimicPilot on your Windows PC:

Settings: language, theme, shortcuts, click options and where you placed the strip.
Routes (folder Recordings): the positions and timing of the clicks you recorded, as plain JSON files. Recovery copies of a route being recorded are plain JSON too.
Macros (folder Macros): the keys, mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and timing you recorded. Macros, their edit copies and the recovery copies made while a recording is in progress are encrypted with Windows data protection, so only your Windows user account can read them.
Backups (folder Backups): when you choose Create backup, and automatically before an import, Mimic Pilot writes a backup file. Backups are ordinary JSON files, not encrypted, and can contain your routes and macros.
Support files (folder Support): a small file is written when you choose Export support diagnostics, and a similar one may be written after a crash. It holds the app and Windows versions, the processor architecture, language and theme, a few app settings such as the plan and click-rate limit, what the app was doing and an error category. It never holds recorded keys, click positions, routes, macros or names, and it is never sent anywhere automatically.
Export files: when you choose Export data, Mimic Pilot writes a .mimicpilot.json file where you tell it to. Exports are not encrypted and can contain your routes and macros, including the keys you typed while recording. Treat an export like any file that may contain private information, and check it before you share it.

Anyone who can sign in as your Windows user, or who gets a copy of an export or backup file, may be able to read that data.

3. Keyboard and mouse recording

A macro saves the keys you press while it is recording (except the Start, Record and Macro shortcuts), plus mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and timing. Recording starts only when you start it, with the Record macro button or the F9 shortcut (you can change the shortcut), and the first time the app shows a notice that you confirm. While it records, the strip shows "Recording macro" and a live event count. It stops when you press F9, F6 or F8 again, or after 30 minutes or 200,000 events.

Do not type passwords, card numbers or other secrets while a macro is recording. Mimic Pilot cannot tell a password box from any other box, so it would record them. If that happens, delete the macro (section 5) and delete any export or backup made after it.

Route recording (F8 by default) saves mouse button presses and their positions only, not keys.

At other times Mimic Pilot listens for its shortcut keys (F6, F8 and F9 by default) across all windows, so that they work while another program has focus. It checks each key against those shortcuts and does not save or send what you type.

4. Who receives your data

Nobody. Mimic Pilot does not share your data with anyone and does not sell it. If you choose to send an export, backup or support file to someone, that is your decision.

5. Deleting your data

In the app, delete a route in the drawer (Library) and a macro in the Macros tab (Delete, then confirm). Deleting a macro also removes its recovery and edit copies.

To remove everything: close Mimic Pilot (tray menu, Exit) and delete the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\MimicPilot (paste that path into the Windows Explorer address bar). Also delete any export or backup files you saved elsewhere. Uninstalling Mimic Pilot may leave this folder behind; if it does, delete it the same way.

6. Children

Mimic Pilot is not directed at children. The publisher of Mimic Pilot collects no personal information from anyone. Data you record stays on your PC as described above.

7. This website

This site has no ads, analytics, tracking cookies, sign-up forms or payment forms, and it doesn’t use browser storage. The drawings of the app are plain HTML; they can’t control your computer. The hosting provider receives the technical data needed to serve pages, such as your IP address and request details.

8. Changes

If Mimic Pilot changes how it handles data, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change.
