Your first run
- Pick a button and a speed. Use the Button and Speed menus on the strip. Start slow; you can raise it later.
- Choose where it clicks. Cursor clicks wherever you point. Fixed point clicks one spot on screen.
- Check your stop key. F6 starts and stops. You can change it under More (the three dots), then Settings, then Shortcuts.
- Try a short run. Set Stop after to 20 clicks, watch what happens, then adjust.

How do I stop automation?
Press your Start/Stop shortcut, F6 by default. It works from any window, including while a route is playing. The Stop button on the strip works too.
Can I change the shortcuts?
Open More (the three dots), then Settings, then Shortcuts. Click the shortcut you want to change and press a new key. Use different keys for Start, route recording and macros.
Which keys start recording?
F8 records a route and F9 records a macro. The strip and Settings show the keys your copy uses.
The strip
Where is the Mimic Pilot window?
Mimic Pilot is the strip at the top of your screen; there is no separate main window. If you hide it, click the Mimic Pilot icon in the Windows tray to bring it back.
The strip is in my way.
Drag it anywhere. It snaps to screen edges and stays where you leave it. Double-click it to shrink it to a single Start button.
Routes and macros
Do the route markers block my apps?
No. Clicks pass through the markers to the app underneath. While the route is open in the drawer, you can drag the markers to move clicks.
Why does a route click in the wrong place?
Routes use screen positions. Moving or resizing an app, changing display scaling, or moving monitors can shift your target. Put the app back where it was, or drag the markers to the new spots.
Can a recording include passwords?
A macro saves keys pressed while it is recording, except the Start, Record and Macro shortcuts. It cannot tell a password box from any other box, so it can record passwords and other secrets you type.
Your data
Where is my data stored?
On your PC, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\MimicPilot. Routes and settings are JSON files. Macro files are encrypted for your Windows user.
How do I back up or move my recordings?
Open More (the three dots), then Settings, then Data, and use Export or Backup. On the other PC, use Import and choose what happens when names clash before anything is replaced.
Are recordings uploaded anywhere?
No. Mimic Pilot doesn’t upload routes or macros. An export is a file you control, and sharing it is up to you.
When something doesn’t work
The shortcut does nothing.
Another app may already use that key. Pick a different key in Settings, then Shortcuts, and try a short run.
Clicks are too fast for the other app.
Lower the speed, or play routes with the recorded timing so the app has time to respond. Try a short run before you loop it.
Does Mimic Pilot work with every app?
It depends on the app and on Windows permissions. Some protected or administrator windows don’t accept input from a normal desktop app.
How do I prepare a support report?
Write down your Mimic Pilot and Windows versions and the shortest steps that show the problem. Settings can export a diagnostic file; it leaves out recorded keys, click positions and macro events.
